CHINESE HONGSHAN RED JADE SUN GOD

A Chinese Hongshan carved red jade sun god. These early jade carvings were typical as ceremonial burial pieces. The Hongshan culture was a Neolithic culture in northeastern China an important stage of early Chinese civilization. Hongshan sites have been found in an area stretching from Inner Mongolia to Liaoning, and dated from about 4700-2900 BC.
