Pair of Italian Hand-Built Terracotta Campana Urns, Circa 1800

$8,800.00

Vasi da giardino, Italy, possibly dating to the late 18th or early 19th century.

Pair of terracotta Neoclassical style Campana-form urns raised on circular pedestal bases.  Features include scrolling side handles, applied foliate ornament, gadrooned bowls, and molded bead-and-reel borders.

The urns exhibit characteristics associated with early architectural and garden terracotta, including thick hand-built construction, applied decorative elements, and a timeworn surface. Beautiful conservatory pieces.
