Silas Seandel Stone Bronze Occasional Table
Silas Seandel Stone Bronze Occasional Table
New York, 1970s.
Stone, bronze.
Signed by the artist, this side table was created using an acid wash to treat the stone. Then, molten bronze was poured on and allowed to settle and solidify in the natural dips of the stone. The sudden temperature clash caused by the heat of the molten bronze meeting the cold stone results in a beautiful patina on the bronze.

Seandel's works are all handmade in his studio located in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan.[3] He uses solid metals such as brass, bronze, steel, copper, etc. There are no enamels, no veneers, or unnatural materials, and all colors are the results of acids and heat treatments which Seandel has developed.
