Life size, bronze bust reduction after the ancient Roman sculpture known as the Capitoline Venus, cast by the Paris foundry F. Barbedienne Foundry. The figure depicts the goddess with softly inclined head, centrally parted hair drawn into a low knot, and idealized classical features. The bust truncates across the upper chest and shoulders and is mounted on a circular socle. “F. BARBEDIENNE. FONDEUR.
