Cast in a bronze alloy, this pair of mid-19th century shokudai candle stands is an elegant example of traditional Japanese metalwork. The well-proportioned stand is quite tall, stabilized by a heavy bronze base plate. A flower-form base secures each rod, and at the top, the pricket emerges from a traditional shallow dish.
